The Attorney General of Spain – Álvaro García Ortiz – has been ordered to stand trial for an alleged breach of confidentiality concerning leaked emails.
A judge at the Supreme Court denied suspending him from his duties but has imposed a bail of one hundred and fifty thousand euros.
Mr. Ortiz – who denies any wrongdoing – is accused of leaking sensitive emails relating to political opponents.
The government has maintained its support for Ortiz, stating they have confidence in his innocence amidst the accusations.
